Off-Grid AI is an offline-first, device-bound knowledge system. It is designed to operate without internet connectivity, without user accounts, and without cloud infrastructure. When a device is kept offline, nothing about your use is transmitted anywhere.

When a device is connected to the internet, the software transmits limited information to Elastic Thoughts, LLC to support product updates and quality improvement. This policy explains in detail what is collected, when, and why — covering both the product runtime and the surrounding infrastructure (the website, the purchase process, and optional updates).

02 What the Product Does and Does Not Transmit

When the device is offline

The Off-Grid AI runtime is fully self-contained. It does not require an internet connection to operate, does not require an account, and does not transmit your questions, answers, feedback, or usage data to Elastic Thoughts. All AI processing occurs locally on your device.

When the device is connected to the internet

By default, Off-Grid AI does not transmit your questions, answers, ratings, feedback, or diagnostic information to Elastic Thoughts. Telemetry is disabled by default.

If you choose to enable Telemetry / Feedback Sharing within the application (Manage → Privacy & Telemetry), and the device is connected to the internet, the software may transmit:

◆ Device serial number (a pseudonymous identifier assigned at manufacture)

◆ The text of questions you submit to the system

◆ A normalized representation of those questions for analysis

◆ Thumbs-up / thumbs-down ratings you provide on answers

◆ Optional feedback comments you submit through the "Tell us more" field

◆ Limited answer context needed to interpret feedback, including a truncated copy of the answer, the knowledge pack or model tier used, response timing, and whether the system declined to answer

◆ Diagnostic and crash reports, which may include a limited portion of recent activity needed to diagnose software issues

◆ Software version information used to determine whether software or knowledge updates are available

When telemetry is disabled, none of the above information is transmitted. You may continue using all product features, including rating answers locally; those ratings simply remain on your device and are not sent to Elastic Thoughts.

Telemetry is entirely optional. You may enable or disable it at any time from within the application. Disabling telemetry immediately stops any further transmission of questions, feedback, ratings, or diagnostic information.

Certain online functions operate independently of your telemetry preference. When connected to the internet, the device may contact our servers to check for software or knowledge updates and verify your license or purchased entitlements. These requests transmit only the information necessary to deliver the correct updates, such as your device serial number and installed software version. They do not transmit your questions, answers, ratings, feedback, or comments.

We use telemetry solely to improve Off-Grid AI by identifying knowledge gaps, refining retrieval and answer quality, correcting errors in the knowledge library, improving software reliability, and prioritizing future Expansion Packs. We do not use telemetry to build advertising profiles, sell personal information, or share it with unaffiliated third parties for their own marketing purposes.

Linkability and pseudonymity

The device serial number is not itself a direct identifier such as your name or email address. However, because serial numbers are assigned during manufacturing and may be associated with purchase or shipping records, Elastic Thoughts could, in principle, associate a serial number with the purchaser of a device. For that reason, telemetry is considered pseudonymous rather than anonymous. We do not perform this association in the ordinary course of improving the product. We may do so only when required by law, to investigate fraud or abuse, or to respond to a verified request from you regarding your data.

Retention

Telemetry data is retained for up to 24 months to support product improvement and trend analysis across software releases, after which it is aggregated or deleted. Order and account records are retained for up to seven years to comply with applicable tax and business recordkeeping requirements. Marketing consent records are retained until you withdraw your consent or unsubscribe. Website analytics data is retained for up to 14 months.

Telemetry Controls

Off-Grid AI includes a Privacy & Telemetry setting (Manage → Privacy & Telemetry) where you may enable or disable telemetry at any time. Telemetry is disabled by default. If enabled, the application records the date and time consent was provided. Disabling telemetry immediately stops any further transmission of questions, feedback, ratings, or diagnostic reports. A full copy of this Privacy Policy is also available within the application for offline reference.

03 Cookies & Website Tracking

The Off-Grid AI website (offgridai.io) is hosted on the Shopify platform. Like most e-commerce platforms, Shopify and our marketing tools place cookies in your browser to support site functionality, cart persistence, fraud prevention, analytics, and marketing. These cookies are limited to the website and have no connection to the product runtime.

Types of cookies used:

◆ Essential cookies — Required for the site to function (cart, checkout session, security tokens). Cannot be disabled without breaking core site functions.

◆ Analytics cookies — Used to understand site traffic and usage patterns. Currently includes Shopify's built-in analytics and Google Analytics. Data is aggregated and not used to identify individual visitors.

◆ Marketing cookies — Used to support email and SMS re-engagement and advertising. Currently includes Klaviyo (if enabled) and Meta Pixel (if enabled).

◆ Preference cookies — Store settings such as language or region.

Most browsers allow you to manage or disable cookies in your settings. Disabling essential cookies may prevent checkout from functioning. Residents of jurisdictions with applicable cookie-consent laws will see a consent banner on first visit.

04 Website Analytics

When you visit offgridai.io, standard web infrastructure automatically collects:

◆ IP address and approximate geographic location derived from it

◆ Browser type, device type, and operating system

◆ Date, time, and pages visited

◆ Referral source (if applicable)

◆ Items added to cart or abandoned

This data is used to maintain and improve the website. It is not linked to product telemetry (§02) and does not personally identify you.

05 Purchase & Order Data

If you purchase Off-Grid AI through our website or a connected storefront, we collect the information necessary to complete that transaction:

◆ Name and billing/shipping address

◆ Email address and phone number

◆ Order details and purchase history

◆ Payment confirmation (see §06 for card-data handling)

We use this data to fulfill and ship your order, communicate order status and support, and comply with legal and tax requirements. We do not sell, rent, or trade your purchase data. We share it with service providers — shipping carriers, payment processors, email and SMS platforms, and the customer-service tools we use — strictly as required to operate the business.

As noted in §02, the device serial number assigned to a shipped unit is linkable to the purchase record in our order system.

06 Payment Processing

Payment card data is processed by Shopify Payments and its underlying processors (which may include Stripe). Elastic Thoughts does not store, transmit, or have access to full payment card numbers. All payment data is handled by PCI-DSS-compliant processors under their own privacy and security obligations. For information on how Shopify handles payment data, see shopify.com/legal/privacy.

07 Optional Updates & Downloads

Off-Grid AI supports optional, user-initiated software and knowledge updates when an internet connection is available. Update checks are:

◆ User-initiated — you must explicitly initiate a check from within the software

◆ Cryptographically signed and verified before installation

◆ Delivered as sealed, versioned packages from offgridai.io

During an update check, your device transmits only the information necessary to determine whether updates are available and whether your device is entitled to receive them, including the device serial number and installed software version.

Update checks are independent of the telemetry settings described in Section 02. Whether telemetry is enabled or disabled, the device may contact our update servers to check for available software, knowledge, and Expansion Pack updates. However, update checks do not transmit your questions, answers, ratings, feedback, comments, or diagnostic information unless you have separately chosen to enable telemetry.

Offline updates via USB transfer are also supported and require no internet communication from the device.

08 Expansion Packs

Expansion Packs (including Medical, Automotive, Electrical, Tactical Ops, and future modules) are optional additions that are downloaded and installed locally on your device.

Once installed, Expansion Packs operate under the same privacy controls as the core Off-Grid AI software. If telemetry is disabled, queries, answers, ratings, feedback, and diagnostic information generated while using Expansion Packs remain on your device and are not transmitted to Elastic Thoughts.

If you choose to enable telemetry, Expansion Pack usage is subject to the same telemetry practices described in Section 02.

Purchases of Expansion Packs are subject to the same order and payment data handling practices described in Section 05.

09 Email & SMS Communications

Marketing communications:

If you opt in to email or SMS communications from Elastic Thoughts, Off-Grid AI, or Mountain Ready, you consent to receive product updates, preparedness content, and promotional offers. Consent is not a condition of purchase.

◆ To opt out of SMS, reply STOP to any text message.

◆ For assistance, reply HELP to any text message or email privacy@offgridai.io.

◆ To request full removal of your contact data, email privacy@offgridai.io.

Message and data rates may apply. We do not sell SMS opt-in data or mobile numbers to third parties for their own marketing purposes. We share this data with our email and SMS delivery platforms (service providers acting on our behalf) and as required by law. SMS program details are governed by our Mobile Terms of Service at offgridai.io/pages/off-grid-ai-mobile-terms-of-service.

Transactional communications:

Order confirmations, shipping notifications, and support responses are sent regardless of marketing preferences. These are required for order fulfillment and cannot be suppressed while a transaction is active.

10 Children's Privacy

Off-Grid AI is intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 years of age in violation of the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). Our Terms of Service further require users to be 18 years of age or the age of majority in their jurisdiction. If you believe a child under 13 has provided personal data through our website or purchase process, contact us at privacy@offgridai.io and we will promptly delete it.

11 Data Security

Elastic Thoughts uses industry-standard security practices to protect purchase, account, and telemetry data, including TLS encryption for data in transit and access controls for internal systems.

The Off-Grid AI runtime stores all knowledge locally in a read-only, cryptographically signed partition. Knowledge files are signed with a private key and verified on every launch. There is no cloud-accessible copy of your local knowledge index.

No system is perfectly secure. We cannot guarantee that data will never be subject to unauthorized access, but we commit to prompt notification of affected users in the event of a breach that compromises personal data, as required by applicable law.

12 Third-Party Links

Our website may contain links to external resources, including Mountain Ready's main storefront and partner sites. Elastic Thoughts is not responsible for the privacy practices of third-party websites. Review their policies independently before submitting personal information.

13 Legal Disclosure

Elastic Thoughts may disclose personal information — including telemetry, purchase data, and the association between a device serial number and its purchaser — when required by law, including in response to valid subpoenas, court orders, or government requests. We may also disclose information to prevent fraud, protect the security of our systems, or enforce our Terms of Service. We do not voluntarily disclose customer data beyond what is required to fulfill transactions or comply with legal obligations.

14 Your Privacy Rights — All Jurisdictions

Regardless of where you reside, you may contact us at privacy@offgridai.io to:

◆ Request access to the personal information we hold about you

◆ Request correction of inaccurate or incomplete personal information

◆ Request deletion of your personal information, subject to applicable legal retention requirements

◆ Request a portable copy of your personal information, where applicable

◆ Opt out of marketing communications at any time

◆ Request deletion of any telemetry associated with your device serial number, where applicable

◆ Request that we disassociate your device serial number from your purchase record in our systems

Because telemetry is disabled by default, many users will have no telemetry associated with their device unless they have explicitly chosen to enable it.

We will respond to verified privacy requests within 30 days, unless a longer period is permitted or required by applicable law. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.

15 California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act, provides the following rights:

◆ Right to Know — You may request disclosure of the categories and specific pieces of personal information we have collected, the sources, the business purposes, and the categories of third parties with whom we share it.

◆ Right to Correct — You may request correction of inaccurate personal information.

◆ Right to Delete — You may request deletion of personal information we have collected, subject to certain exceptions.

◆ Right to Opt-Out of Sale or Sharing — Elastic Thoughts does not sell personal information as defined by CCPA/CPRA, and does not share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

◆ Right to Limit Use of Sensitive Personal Information — We do not use or disclose sensitive personal information for purposes that would trigger this right under CCPA/CPRA.

◆ Right to Non-Discrimination — We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of these rights.

To submit a CCPA/CPRA request, contact privacy@offgridai.io. We will respond within 45 days, extendable once by an additional 45 days upon notice, as permitted by law.

16 Other State Privacy Laws

Residents of states with comprehensive consumer privacy laws — including but not limited to Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Utah (UCPA), Texas (TDPSA), Oregon, and Montana — may exercise rights substantially similar to those described in §14 and §15, consistent with their state's law. Contact privacy@offgridai.io to submit a request, and we will process it in accordance with the applicable law.

17 International Visitors

Off-Grid AI is operated from the United States and is intended primarily for U.S. customers. If you access the website or purchase the product from outside the United States, your personal data will be transferred to, stored in, and processed in the United States. By using the website or purchasing the product, you consent to this transfer. We do not currently operate under GDPR, UK GDPR, or equivalent frameworks, and the product is not actively marketed in the European Union or the United Kingdom.

18 Governing Law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the State of South Carolina, without regard to its conflict-of-law provisions. Any disputes arising under or in connection with this Policy shall be resolved in the courts of Oconee County, South Carolina, unless otherwise required by applicable law.

19 Policy Updates

Elastic Thoughts may update this Privacy Policy as the product evolves. Material changes will be posted to offgridai.io with an updated effective date. Continued use of the website or product following a material change constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
